Prince Edward Island

Green Gables Heritage Place

Prince Edward Island is the setting of Anne of Green Gables and was home to its author, Lucy Maud Montgomery. Both are remembered well on the island. You can visit the various historic home sites of Montgomery, several of which are now museums related to the author and her books, including Green Gables Heritage Place. Away from the Anne/Montgomery tourist mecca of Cavendish, you can experience the very real beauty which inspired Montgomery’s pen and meet the real Kindred Spirits that make up the local community of PEI.

PEI Bookish Highlights

  • Green Gables Heritage Place & The Haunted Wood
  • Birth House of Lucy Maud Montgomery
  • Post office where Montgomery worked while writing Anne of Green Gables
  • Avonlea Village
  • Anne of Green Gables Museum & The Lake of Shining Waters

One thing I’ve found through my travels is that (nearly all) humans love for a good dog story. So here are three I’ve added to my dog’s bookshelf:
🐶 Patsy Ann of Alaska
📍Visit the statue of Patsy Ann on the cruise dock in Juneau, AK and pick up a copy of the book at nearby @hearthsidebooks
🐶 Catie Copley
📍Visit the @fairmontcopley in Boston, MA and ask the concierge for a copy of the book.
🐶 Greyfriars Bobby
📍Visit the statue of Bobby in the Greyfriars Kirkyard in Edinburgh, Scotland. Pick up a copy of the book at @toppingsedin.
